Four teens shot, one fatally, overnight

Police are seeking suspects in three unrelated shootings that left one teen dead and three others seriously injured overnight.

Police are seeking suspects in three unrelated shootings that left one teen dead and three others seriously injured overnight.

In the first case, Jerome Carlyle, 14, of Sheridan Street near Clearfield in Fairhill, was shot in the chest and back on Clearfield Street near Seventh at 11:12 p.m. last night, police said. He died at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children about 40 minutes later. The motive is unknown.

The second shooting occurred just minutes later in Olney, when someone shot two 17-year-olds on Gale Street near B, police said. The boys told police they'd gotten into a fight with other youths in a nearby playground; afterward, they said, a silver Crown Victoria circled the blocks several times and shots rang out. One teen caught a bullet in the right leg; the other was shot in the left hand. Both teens are in stable condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

In the third shooting, a 15-year-old boy sitting on steps on 19th Street near Jefferson in North Philadelphia was shot once in the shoulder at midnight, police said. He remains in critical but stable condition at Hahnemann University Hospital. The motive is unknown.

Police reported no suspects in any of the cases. In all three incidents, the victims were violating the city's curfew, which is 10:30 p.m. on weeknights for anyone under age 18.
