A North Wales man who got into a minor accident on the Schuylkill Expressway was then killed early this morning after he was hit by a motorcyclist as he walked along the highway for help. The motorcyclist, who was thrown from his vehicle, also died.

The incident happened just after 1 a.m. in the right eastbound lane in Lower Merion, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Arnold Khemdy, 20, hit a guiderail on a ramp from I-476 to I-76, leaving his car disabled, police said. He then began walking eastbound, where Hour Song Chheng, 40, a biker traveling with a group of motorcycles, hit him about a mile from his initial crash site, police said. Khemdy was thrown onto the right shoulder, while Chheng was hurled onto the roadway. Both men died at the scene. It's unclear why Khemdy was walking in the lane of traffic. State police continue to investigate.

A third vehicle was involved, but investigators do not believe it played a role in the fatality. Police closed the road for about four hours.
