Elderly man found in Schuylkill this morning identified

The body pulled from the Schuylkill River this morning has been identified as 73-year-old Shijun Liu, a resident of the Riverside Presbyterian Apartments, a subsidized housing complex for the elderly, police said.

Liu wandered away from the apartment complex and was reported missing on Saturday, police said. An employee at the complex, who confirmed Liu was a resident, said he had not lived at the independent living facility for seniors and the disabled for very long. The apartments are located on 23rd Street near Race, not far from the Schuylkill River in Center City.

His body was discovered at 6:47 a.m. near Market Street. No foul play is suspected, according to police.
