Police this morning arrested a Frankford man on murder charges for the New Year's Day 2013 gun slaying of an East Frankford man.

Joshua Williams, 19, of Pratt Street near Frankford Avenue, allegedly blasted bullets at the home of Tyjuan Shields, 24, who lived less than two blocks away on Howarth Street near Frankford Avenue, just after 2:30 a.m., said Officer Christine O'Brien, a police spokeswoman. Shields caught a bullet in the head, and paramedics declared him dead on the scene at 2:45 a.m.

The attack came after both men allegedly were involved in an earlier fight. Williams is being held without bail pending a May 15 preliminary hearing, according to court records.
