A 66-year-old man is being questioned by detectives for allegedly accosting and grabbing a young girl late this morning in the city's Frankford section.
The man, who allegedly approached a 9-year-old girl while she walked with her mother shortly before noon on Frankford Avenue near Orthodox Street, was pointed out by a civilian who flagged down officers in the neighborhood later in the day, a police source said. Officers brought him to the Special Victims Unit for questioning around 7 p.m.
The young victim told 6ABC that the man asked her if she was old enough to date before grabbing her.
She said in an interview with the station, "My mom was like, 'No!' And he went and he grabbed me. He said it again, 'Are you old enough to date?' And my mom was like, 'Get out of here, go, go, go!'"
As of 8:30 p.m., no formal charges had been filed against the man, who was still in custody. The incident remains under investigation.
