The death of a 3-year-old boy who was rushed to a hospital after a guardian said he fell down a set of stairs in late June, has been ruled a homicide, police said Wednesday.

Police and medics responded to an apartment building on Chestnut Street near 47th Street on June 29 and found the toddler unconscious. A woman, who police identified as his godmother, said the boy fell down a set of stairs and hit his head and would not wake up.

The boy died after he was taken off life support at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Homicide detectives said they'll question the boy's godmother, but no charges have been filed yet.
