Cops find 3mil stash of hydroponic pot in NE

POSTED: Wednesday, March 18, 2009, 11:17 PM

Narcotics cops busted a hydroponic marijuana lab with more than $3 million worth of pot in an apartment in the Far Northeast earlier this afternoon. A tip led the officers to an apartment on Beverly Drive near Hemlock rented by Paul Miller, 39, of Warminster, Pa., said Narcotics Capt. Debra Frazier. Miller had more than 700 hydroponic plants, $13,000 in cash, a loaded .40-caliber firearm and equipment to help grow the plants inside the apartment, Frazier said. He was arrested on drug charges. Frazier said it was unclear where Miller had been distributing the hydroponic pot.

I'll let someone else comment on that 'far northeast' part and I'll let someone else pray about this crime and the uh, victums. But if you get a chance to read the Bible, read Genesis, chapter 2. You will see a verse that says: and on the __day, GOD made the plants and they were good.

Maybe Mayor Nutter will sell the pot on the street and help pay down the city's deficit. I hope so.

How terrible, a plant that has never killed anyone, ever, is being grown. In buckets of dirt. That's awful. I'm so glad that taxpayer funds are being spent on monitoring plants.

Don't let it get moldy in an evidence locker! Bag it fresh and sell it! It's sweet, delicious brighten-your-day-with-some-sonic-chronic chronic! Lincoln said it best - you can't legislate appetite. Northeast has great rates on empty homes with their own yards and quiet neighbors. Every vice is inherently its own punishment. Set up those goofy sheds from the City Hall Square Octoberfest, sell it to all us weedheads, rebuild the city's infrastructure, have the only surging local economy while the world goes deeper in debt. Just say no doesn't work, pot-possession prisoners are a staggering percent of the city's actual cost and no one would vote for it on a ballot if they knew the social/economic cost of pot prohibition.

Seriously, the potential risks of marijuana are much less than alcohol and tobacco and the revenue for government coffers would be absurd.

It will all go up in smoke as it should. Just who is smoking it up. Look like the whole NE had it going. To bad loose lips sink ships just one should know.

Nutter must be content with leaving a boring legacy on an important job. Obama said he won't prosecute medical pot from a federal level, why can't Mike and Eddie sit down and think about this as a viable revenue source. Would you rather live down the street from a 7-11 that sold joints or a casino? TAX MY VICE AND REGULATE IT PLEASE!

JBA - That was a valiant attempt at competent grammar. The overtime you'll get should help your hangover. If you are not law enforcement, you take a paradoxical stand since black markets are what ruin neighborhoods like the NE, and legalization would... you know the drill. Cut back your overtime and asset forfeiture. And sorry for the grammar nazi'ing back there. We're both working on our nightcaps, yours in rocks glass, mine in two-foot 'water pipe'.

Save the city and save the world nutter! Or at least those of us who aren't alcohol consumers or don't get good perscriptions but still need to handle this recession on a biochemical level.

And that will conclude my free labor for tonight, both in giving content to bankrupt papers, and in saving a bankrupt town via this obvious, sensible and universally acceptable idea. How long does it take for an ex-taboo to be an ex-law? Get it together PLCB! Get in on this racket too - only seriously, and please.

As usual with drug busts, that's some fuzzy math. Even if all 700 plants were flowering fully, each one would have to provide ~$4200 to arrive at that number. Now, if this gentleman's clients all paid $60 an eighth, and there was no breakdown.... that means each plant would still have to provide about 10 ounces (highly unlikely). Anyway, ask a Philly cop how they feel about people smoking marijuana in their homes. The ones I know would rather be fighting real crime than worrying about this nonsense. Throw in the windfall from taxing the stuff and you've got a nice dream.....
