Cops: Driver tries to hit officers with truck in N. Philly

A pickup-truck driver tried to run over two police officers after he was stopped in North Philadelphia on Wednesday night, police said. The officers were walking a foot beat when they pulled over a Ford truck on 18th and Norris streets about 11:50 p.m. The 41-year-old driver then rammed his foot on the gas in an attempt to hit the officers, according to Central Detectives. The officers jumped out of the way. The man bailed out of the truck and ran to 18th and Dauphin streets, where he was apprehended, police said. The driver, whom police have not identified, faces aggravated-assault charges.
