Cops: Boy, 15, shot in bar; Woman raped in Cobbs Creek

In unrelated incidents early this morning, a teen was shot inside of a North Philadelphia bar during a fight and a young woman was assaulted and raped in Cobbs Creek, according to police.

Around 2:30 a.m., a 15-year-old boy was with friends inside of El Callejon II, a bar on Indiana and Second streets in the city's Fairhill section, when he got into an argument with an older man, police said. That man grabbed the teen by his throat, pulled out a handgun and shot the boy once in the chest, police said.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he remains today in critical condition. The shooter is described as a clean-shaven Hispanic man, between 19 and 20, with a thin build. Police said he is between 5'5" and 5'6" and was wearing an orange jacket, light blue jeans and a baseball cap at the time of the assault.

Earlier in the evening, around 12:06 a.m., a 24-year-old woman was walking along Cobbs Creek Parkway near Ashland Avenue in Cobbs Creek when she was hit over the head with an unknown object and dragged in to the park, where she was raped, according to police. The victim was taken to Temple in unknown condition.
