The most slippery thugs often are nondescript. Forgettable faces help criminals dodge detection and justice.
So here's to hoping someone recognizes the skinny punk who robbed a jewelry store at the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem on Thursday. The loser who lifted a one-carat, $8,500 diamond ring had tattoos on his right arm, wore his hair in a mohawk and maybe most distinctively, had large circular holes in his earlobes, police say. He's further described as black, about 20 to 30 years old and about 5-foot-10. He's also apparently a devout Flyers fan, because he wore a black Flyers hat, a black Flyers t-shirt (#18 Richards on the back) atop a white long-sleeve shirt and black basketball shorts.
The robber struck at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gordon's Jewelers, police said. He asked to see the ring, casually sat down to examine it like a real buyer but then sprinted out of the store as the store clerk threw her arms up in surprise. Police say he was last seen running across Neshaminy Boulevard.
