Cops searching for suspects in multiple armed robberies

Police are searching for two men wanted in armed robberies Oct. 8 in West Philadelphia.

Cops gave this account: Around 9:50 p.m., a 30-year-old man walked out of a Chinese carryout restaurant on 49th Street near Baltimore Avenue.  Two men followed the victim from the restaurant to the street corner, where one suspect pulled out a silver semiautomatic handgun and pointed it at the victim, demanding his belongings. The man gave the suspects his iPhone and four dollars. The suspects ran south on 49th Street, then west on Baltimore Avenue.

Police described the suspects as two black men. The man carrying the gun is about 30, dark-skinned, stocky, about 6 feet, and weighing 215 to 230 pounds. He wore a blue hooded sweater with white strings, ripped blue jeans and white sneakers.

The second suspect is in his late teens to early 20s, light-skinned, about 5 feet 10 with a thin build. He was clean-shaven, and wore a dark Puma sweater, light blue jeans, white sneakers and a white baseball cap.

About 10 minutes after that robbery, police said, two suspects who fit the same description and used the same weapon likely robbed two more people on 50th Street near Larchwood. Police said the victims gave the men their cellphones and small amounts of cash.

Tipsters are asked to call 215-686-TIPS.
