A man pointed a gun at police in West Philadelphia Sunday night, prompting them to shoot and wound him, police said.

At 8:53 p.m., uniformed and plainclothes officers responded to 57th and Media streets for a call for a man with a gun, according to preliminary police information. When the cops got there, they spotted a man matching the description of the gunman who was holding a gun, police said.

The man saw the officers and ran up 57th Street, police said, but was met by another officer there. The suspect then doubled back and pointed his gun at the first cops, prompting two officers fire, wounding him in the torso, according to police.
