Thanks to a tip from the public, city police and U.S. Marshals nabbed Ronald Gregory, 24, the man accused of breaking into an elderly Germantown woman's house to rape and rob her last Thursday. Authorities arrested Gregory without incident about 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Bartram Village Apartments at 54th Street and Elmwood Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.

The 78-year-old victim was sleeping in her home on Wayne Avenue near Queen Lane when she was awakened by a man in her bedroom, police said. The intruder raped her and stole $200 in cash and a money order before fleeing, police said.

The U.S Marshals had posted a $2,500 reward for tips leading to attacker's arrest.

Gregory is charged with rape, burglary, robbery, sexual assault and related offenses. He already was awaiting trial in an unrelated robbery case, in which he's accused of robbing and assaulting someone on Aug. 8, 2011, court records show.
