An anonymous tip helped police nab a South Philly man they say is the scrooge who stole several UPS packages from a neighbor's doorstep last month.

Piero Andreini, 32, of 15th Street near Jackson, is now charged with theft and related offenses. Police said a UPS driver delivered three packages to a home on 16th Street near Jackson about 1 p.m. Dec. 12. A half hour later, Andreini allegedly  parked his car curbside, approached the home, stole the packages that had been left by the front door and fled in his car, police said. The heist was caught on surveillance video, and the tipster recognized Andreini, police said.

Andreini faces a status hearing Feb. 7. At the time of the alleged theft, he was out on bail after getting arrested in November on gun violations, court records show.
