Cops nab holiday package thief

An anonymous tip helped police nab a South Philly man they say is the scrooge who stole several UPS packages from a neighbor's doorstep last month.

Piero Andreini, 32, of 15th Street near Jackson, is now charged with theft and related offenses. Police said a UPS driver delivered three packages to a home on 16th Street near Jackson about 1 p.m. Dec. 12. The heist was caught on surveillance video, and the tipster recognized Andreini, police said.

Andreini faces a status hearing Feb. 7. At the time of the alleged theft, he was out on bail after getting arrested in November on gun violations, court records show.
