Cops arrest man in teen's slaying

Police have charged a South Philadelphia man with murder and weapon offenses for allegedly gunning down a Northern Liberties teen outside a Chinese takeout in November.

Jamil Davis, 22, of Ringgold Street near Tasker, is being held without bail in the Nov. 4 murder of Lance Wilson, 18, of Third Street near George, said Officer Jillian Russell, a police spokeswoman. The motive is listed as argument; Russell had no details on what sparked the argument.

Davis allegedly shot Wilson in the back at 5:15 p.m., as the teen left a Chinese takeout on Jefferson Street near 7th. Wilson died within the hour at Hahnemann University Hospital. His mother told the Philadelphia Tribune in November that he was a student at the Kensington Business School, and his relatives and friends had no idea why he was targeted for death. She couldn't be reached for comment today.

Davis has multiple prior arrests and was wanted on a warrant in a drug case at the time of Wilson's death, court records show.
