The body of an unidentified woman was found wrapped in sheets in East Germantown this evening and the cause of her death remains under investigation, according to police.

Just after 5:30 p.m., a person walking on Rufe Street near Collom discovered an object near a wooded area, said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

When police arrived on scene they discovered the object was "obviously" a body wrapped and tied in bed sheets, Small said.

The body was described as that of a black woman in her late 20s or early 30s. She had nothing on her feet but she was dressed and had no obvious signs of trauma, Small said.

She remains a Jane Doe. Police believe she could have been left at the scene for about 24 hours before being spotted.
