Cops: Woman escapes man who sexually assaulted her when he falls asleep

A woman who police say was sexually assaulted in Kensington Thursday morning was able to escape her attacker when he fell asleep, but her attacker remains on the loose, according to a bulletin put out by cops on Monday.

Police said the 21-year-old woman told investigators she was stranded at a gas station in the area around 11 a.m. Thursday when a man she did not know “befriended her and took her to an abandoned house” on Ormes Street near Indiana Avenue. In the abandoned house, cops said, the woman told them the man threatened her with a black handgun and then raped her. She was able to get away when the man fell asleep, police said.

The attacker is described as a 34-year-old white man who called himself “Mike.” He’s thin, has scruffy facial hair and wore a light gray hat, gray sweatpants, a light-colored coat and a black T-shirt at the time of the sexual assault.

Anyone with information should contact the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251.
