Cops: Mother dead, child wounded in Southwest Philadelphia shooting
A 31-year-old woman is dead and a 5-year-old girl is recovering from a graze wound to the back of her head after a double shooting in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.
A 31-year-old woman is dead and her 5-year-old daughter is recovering from a graze wound to the back of her head after a double shooting in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.
Shots were fired around 4:11 p.m. on Theodore Street near Island Avenue, wounding the woman once in her chest.
The mother was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and was pronounced dead at 4:32 p.m., police said. The girl was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and was listed in stable condition as of 5:15 p.m.
Cops are unsure of what led to the shooting, and a description of the suspect was not immediately available.
