Cops: West Chester students had 40 lbs of THC-laced candy

The Chester County District Attorney's Office said it confiscated 40 pounds of THC-laced candy from West Chester University students at an on-campus apartment recently.

The Chester County District Attorney's Office said it confiscated 40 pounds of THC-laced candy from West Chester University students at an on-campus apartment recently.

According to a release, campus police officers pulled over a car of students on campus and smelled marijuana coming from their vehicle. The release doesn't indicate what day the car stop occurred or the initial reason for the stop.

"The police then worked backwards from questioning the occupants of the car all the way to the apartment on South New Street, where the police recovered the candy," the release said.

Cops said they found THC treats varying in size from "small hard candies" to "candies the size of a small orange."

"With Halloween just around the corner, the last thing we want to see is drug-laced candy hitting the streets," Chester County Chief Deputy District Attorney Patrick Carmody said in the release. "This appears to be an isolated incident ... But it is a good time to remind parents to check the candy collected by their children during Halloween."

The release did not detail how many students were arrested nor did it provide their names or the date of the incident.
