Cops: Swiped beer fueled double stabbing in Northeast Philly

A fight between two roommates that started over a pinched beer ended with the alleged brew thief stabbing his roommate and his landlord in Northeast Philadelphia last night, police said.

David Gentner, 50, and his 33-year-old female roommate got into a heated argument around 8:30 p.m. at the house where they live on Sanger Street near Summerdale Avenue because Gentner took the woman's beer, police said.

At some point, the woman threw a punch at Gentner but missed and the 54-year-old landlord got in between the two, according to police. Gentner then pushed the landlord out of the way and punched the woman once in the nose, police said.

He then grabbed a knife and cut the woman on the back of her head and on her left bicep before stabbing his landlord once in the right arm, according to police.

Cops were called and Gentner was arrested at the scene. The victims were both taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, were they were treated for their injuries and released.

Gentner was charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and related charges.

Gentner's alleged beer-fueled rage came just one day after 19-year-old Naqueebullah Habibi allegedly stabbed to death William Walker Jr., 21, in Cherry Hill after the two argued over a game of beer pong.

In 2009, 24-year-old Joseph Jimenez was charged with the murder of Scott Riley, 25, in Bridgeport, Montgomery County, after he shot Riley following an argument over game of beer pong.
