Cops: Shootings leave man, 32, boy, 11, hospitalized

POSTED: Friday, July 20, 2012, 11:14 PM

Police are investigating two separate shootings that left a 32-year-old man critically wounded in West Philadelphia, and an 11-year-old boy hospitalized in stable condition after he was shot in North Philadelphia.

Shots were fired on Parkside Avenue near 52nd Street around 9:45 p.m., police said.

A man was wounded once in the lower side of his back and was taken by medics to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Shortly after that incident, an 11-year-old boy suffered a graze wound to his right leg when he was shot on 11th Street near Norris, near the eastern edge of Temple University's campus in North Philadelphia at 10:03 p.m., police said.

He was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and was listed in stable condition.

Cops were unsure of the motives behind the shootings, and detailed descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available.

Kind of funny when a blue eyed blonde hair person gets missing it's an all out search
When an inner city kid get hurt it's a big joke
All kids should be protected and it' not a laughing matter

It is a foul thing that many people on this site make this situation a source of amusement. But what is even worse is that we know what the problem is and how to solve it but the status quo remains.

Women are NOT meant to be heads of household. Most women CANNOT raise male children to become competent men. That is why these communities are weak because they consist of households headed by women who have boyfriends instead of husbands.

djc is on the mark. What is a crisis is seen as a joke to so many of these commenters. How sad.

Kids should be protected. And that starts with their parents. That concept seems difficult for you to comprehend.

I'm not sure who you mean when you say that concept seem difficult for you to comprehend ....
I would agree with that statement 100 percent but a 11 yr. old kid didn't shoot himself.
Kids should be able to play safely
Now until what time of night would be the question at hand being outside

Meanwhile in Colorado a White male drops out of med school, dyes his hair, sneaks in the back of a movie theatre with 3 guns, kills 12 people and wounds another 38 while racist idiots on Philly.com hide behind their keyboards acting as if senseless violence is only relegated to one segment of society. #ignorantandproudofit

Actually the problem in Phila is unstable kids with access to hand guns instead of text books, part time jobs or anything else productive.
