Cops: Man wanted in retail theft, purse snatching fled in stolen car

Police are searching for a man who stole from a CVS, snatched a woman's purse as he ran from the store and fled the scene in a stolen car.

The incident took place at a CVS on Wadsworth Avenue near Pickering in East Mount Airy at about 5 p.m. on Aug. 11, police said.

The man jumped into a black ford explorer, which had been reported stolen earlier that day. Police tried following the man but lost him. He eventually crashed into another car and fled the scene on foot, police said.

A surveillance camera inside the CVS recorded footage of the man before he ran from the drug store and police are asking for help from the public to identify the man.
