Cops: Man shot in Germantown, likely an act of retaliation
A 25-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot in his stomach on Greene Street near Logan in Germantown Tuesday night.
Shots rang out around 10 p.m. and the man was taken by a private vehicle to the Albert Einstein Medical Center. He was listed in stable condition as of 11:30 p.m., police said.
Six shell casings and the victim’s blood were found on the scene. There were no witnesses. Police said the suspect fled in a white pickup truck.
The victim was likely targeted because his brother stormed into his ex-girlfriend's house - which is about two blocks from the scene of Tuesday's shooting - and shot her 32-year-old fiancee Monday afternoon, police said.
The three block stretch of Logan Street between Wayne Avenue and Greene Street has been the scene of three shootings between Monday afternoon and Tuesday night.
I think that makes 6 tonight plus the 3 shootings in 3 blocks in 2 days. Houston we have a problem. 420-24-7- Yes, and idiots like you that smoke pot and openly advertise it are part of that problem. maybe you'll catch the next bullet when you go to pick up your next bag o' weed.

“the brothers and sisters are running the city. Oh, yes. The brothers and sisters are running this city. Running it! Don’t you let nobody fool you, we are in charge of the City of Brotherly Love. We are in charge! We are in charge!”

Just want to point out since the comments are blocked, the guy who got shot in Northern Liberties at PYT; Maurice Kimble was a criminal and deserved what he got. Numerous arrests for aggrevated assault, carrying firearms, robberies etc... And considering he was driving around in a brand new Mercedes living in UD you can add drugs to that rap sheet. It's amazing how these criminals find each other. I'm sure the suspect will get his sooner or later as well. Peace out homie, you won't be missed by anyone in civilized society. While we are at it could we have these car dealerships contact police when these black thugs come in with cash buying $40K+ cars? RIP Philly- I was with you up until the point where you began generalizing in targeting "black thugs." I don't think black thugs are the only criminals buying cars in cash. That said, I do believe dealerships are supposed to report to the Feds when customers make cash purchases as such.
As far as Maurice Kimble's death, you're right for the most part. He won't be missed by many and he had it coming. I just wish that for him and men like him that it never got to that point. I wish the same for his killer, that it never got to the point where he felt the need to pull out a gun and shoot this man three times. I personally don't understand how you can go from enjoying yourself at a bar to making the decision that you're going to kill someone all in a matter of minutes. It seems like these guys aren't thinking, obvious right? If that's the case though, then we have to step it up in doing a better job of making them think. I don't know if that means scaring the hell out of them through the reverse marketing of prison, putting the death penalty to use or simply thinking for them via preventative measures like metal detectors at every bar or mandated paid use of police presence at every bar.
I don't have a clear and proven answer but I'm as dedicated to fixing the problem as you. - They most certainly are not the only criminals buying cars in cash, I'm sure there are many out there but those are not the ones putting the citizens of this city in harms way everytime we leave our homes because they have to keep it real when it comes to the drug game. Check the story on this sites front page of the 3 men shot dead that were identified. Well I checked and guess what all 3 had lengthy criminal records and involved with drugs at some point.
RIP Philly - Most drug dealers in Philly including the ones that were recently killed are broke. They're chasing the dream of big money but usually die or go to jail before they ever get it.
I love how the comments on these "types" of articles are allowed and usually have more text than the article themselves. pauljack

How long will it take for all of them to kill each other and end up on the endangered species list or become extinct? whitey1577
420-24-7 Why dont you use your 5th grade education and explain to all of us what exactly the problem is? And better yet, what do you think should be done to fix it? Or just act like the rest of them who know theres a problem and choose not to do anything about it. Or aqre you one of those who blame "whitey" for the downfall of your society? whitey1577- If I have a 5th grade education, you have a 2nd grade education. Your comments about "whitey" and "bringing down your society" prove that. I didn't say anything about race or skittles/iced tea, or grape soda, or hoodies. I don't blame whitey as I am a 35 y/o white male! Intelligent people with a 5th grade education or better, like myself, understand the problem and don't need me to explain it. Since you are not smart enough to figure it out the problem starts at the top and it fixed at the top. As long as we have Nutter and Ramsey in charge nothing will change. 420-24-7
- @Lloyde - the national guard should only be used as a last resort...such use is embarrassing and should be avoided at nearly all costs. We certainly do need to come up with another way to minimize these incidents though. It just looks horrible.
By the way, I'm black and I'm certainly not ruining the city. I can't speak for everyone in Philly, but most of our residents, whether black, brown yellow or white aren't either.
