Cops: Man arguing with girlfriend gets attacked

Around 2:20 a.m. today, a man and his girlfriend were arguing as they left the Eagle Bar in Hunting Park when they were approached by a group of men, police said.

This is when chivalry goes wrong. Terribly wrong.

Around 2:20 a.m. today, a man and his girlfriend were arguing as they left the Eagle Bar in Hunting Park when they were approached by a group of men, police said.

The men asked the woman if she was alright and then one of the men started a fight with the woman's boyfriend, police said. That man's 35-year-old brother, who had been in his car on Erie Avenue near Park waiting for the couple, got out of his vehicle and went to help his brother, police said.

As the two brothers tried to fight off more than 10 attackers, someone in the crowd fired two gunshots, police said.

Those gunshots hit the 35-year-old brother in his arm and back, police said. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Police have reported no arrests in the case.
