A 40-year-old Jiffy Lube employee was shot dead at point-blank range while he worked Wednesday evening after police say he got into an argument with the man who shot him.

Police said the employee and another man argued – about what is unclear – and the victim was inside a car to move it into the service bay at the Jiffy Lube at Castor and Aramingo avenues in Port Richmond around 5:30 p.m. when the other man opened fire on him, shooting him in the face and the chest.

The victim slumped onto the passenger seat of the car, fatally wounded.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:59 p.m.

Bloodstains inside the blue Ford Focus the victim had been driving and six spent shell casings marked the scene of the slaying in Jiffy Lube’s parking lot Wednesday night as police investigated.

Surveillance cameras at Jiffy Lube did not record the shooting itself, police said, but did capture the shooter running away. Cops were checking cameras at other area businesses for footage related to the homicide.

The shooter is described as a man with facial hair who wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He was last seen running south on Tulip Street from Venango.

Cops said they found a holster and a black sweatshirt that may belong to the shooter on Tulip Street between Venango and Castor. Six witnesses, including the owner of the Focus, were taken to speak with homicide detectives, and investigators remained at the scene investigating around 7 p.m.
