Cops: Drunk man steals airport plow, hits six cars on I-95

POSTED: Thursday, March 17, 2011, 10:59 AM

A drunk, New York man stole a truck with a snow plow at an airport terminal yesterday morning and drove it on to I-95, where he plowed in to six cars before he stopped to fight a trooper, according to state police.

Around 7:15 a.m. at terminal B at the Philadelphia International Airport, Brian Mussaw, 28, slipped in to a Ford F-350 equipped with a snow plow through the passenger's door after the airport employee who was operating the truck had stepped out of it to check on a terminal door, police said.

Leaving the stunned employee behind, Mussaw got on to I-95 North, where, while driving at high speeds, he side swiped and rear ended a total of six cars, according to police. One of those cars hit a seventh vehicle, the impact of which caused it to go over the guardrail, police said.

A state trooper was able to initiate a traffic stop, but during the stop, Mussaw got out of the stolen truck and charged at the trooper, resisting physical and verbal commands, police said. He was placed in to custody when a second trooper arrived on the scene, according to police.

Mussaw, of New York, was charged with numerous offenses, including theft of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of intoxicants and aggravated assault.

Luckily, there were no injuries to the drivers or passengers in the cars he hit, police said.

A state police spokeswoman did not immediately return calls for comment so it remains unknown what Mussaw was doing at the airport terminal.

Stephanie Farr needs to learn the different between "on to" and "onto," and between "in to" and "into."

"What is a 'physical command'?" In Philadelphia, it is usually a warning shot to the chest or head. Lucky it was a state cop.

"Comply and shut your face." Right. Do whatever the cop(s) tell you to do. Shut up. You have no rights. You are not to question the authority with the gun who is telling you what to do. You will be shot because you are not acting properly. Welcome to America. The fellow who took the plow was very lucky that he was not stopped by PPD. He'd be dead.

If it was my car he hit I would have helped the cop subdue this guy with a tire iron.

Philly has the most crooked Cops in the Nation. F the Police who would violate the rights and privileges of any American. It is none of the Police business where you're going it's a freedom that Men have died to protect. F you who would support any violation of those rights by anyone.

Some of you would do better living in a nation with limited human and civil rights.

In America every man is guaranteed basic rights and freedom, not some according to the neighborhood where they reside. Blacks in America haven't enjoyed those privileges but for the last 35 years.

It's apparent that a ton of you posting on here are Communist, at the worse Fascist at the core of your beliefs.

CREZ not neccesarily a restricted area. if the guy was drunk and managed to make it to I-95 this likely happened on the street side of the airport which leads straight out to I-95. it says the worker stepped out of the vehicle to check a terminal door....lots of terminal doors on the street side of the airport

WOW. All I see on here are comments about why this, why that. Has anyone given thought to was this guy was in the terminal in the first place. If he stole a truck that means he was in an area that was resticted to non airport personnel. HMMMMMMMMM!

Hey cop bashers, next time you are in deep trouble and fear for your life, call a Thug. See if that does you any good.
I would bet you would have been the first owner of one of the smashed calls to sue the Highway Patrol for not stopping this guy quicker.
    unbelieveable!

Knicks84, are you serious? Are you not aware of how many people (not just minorities) have been shot by cops because they "thought" the victim had a weapon?

The stunned employee had every right to do is job as he was doing it. The NY drunk had NO right to steal the truck. Why did the truck still have the snowplow attached? I also am wondering why this POS wasn't shot by the troopers.

First of all it is not common practice in Philly. Second of all, I doubt the cops feared for their safety because the man did not have nor produce a weapon.

@to IcanTakeit - Because the officer was a State Trooper, not a Philly cop. Also, the New Yorker was not minority. There... questions answered.

This could have been easily avoided if the "stunned employee" had not left the vehicle running with the keys in it. It still doesn't make it right but easily avoided.

Honestly? Would you really be broken up about it if he was? It's a miracle he didn't kill anyone. Who needs a gun when you can flatten most sedans?
