Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said today that there were 33 people shot in the city within a three-day span from Friday to Sunday.

Of those shootings, five were fatal and one was a suicide.

Homicide Capt. James Clark said the latest killing of Nyeme Taylor, which occurred Sunday night at an unauthorized street party on 33rd and Diamond streets, was the result of Taylor, 30, urging his 14-year-old son to fight five men.

Clark said Taylor son's was at the party when he was jumped by five men for unknown reasons. The boy ran to get Taylor and when the two returned to the party together, Taylor told the five men that his son would fight each of them, Clark said.

When the men jumped the boy again, Taylor tried to pull them off and one of the attackers pulled out a gun and started firing, police said.

Taylor was killed and three girls, including Taylor's 15-year-old daughter, were injured by gunfire. She along with other two girls, ages 6 and 10, are expected to survive their wounds.

Police also released shocking video of a patron who was ejected from a Nicetown bar early yesterday morning for smoking who came back and fired 11 shots into the bar, killing Carl Sharper, 43, and injuring five others.

Anyone with information on any of these incidents is urged to call the police department's tip line at 215-686-8477.

My guess is that the perps have long felony arrest and are running the streets when they should be rotting in jail? What's so hard for a judge to understand some blobs of protoplasm will never assimilate into our society and be contributing citizens. Keep them behind bars, make the city safe again. Frank, where are you???

Looks like we're getting a great return on investment concerning the extra $60,000 a year the city paid Ramsey to stay.

extrapolating this shot/killed stat out for the year, thats over 4000 shot and 600 deaths by firearms. Looks like Philly will rank right up there near the top in the most violent US cities when it's all tallied up. I have friends moving back to the city and they are freakin' crazy.

Nobody wants Stop and Frisk but too many people are being shot. Too many people don't want to be criticized yet few people engage introspection. Posting online will not work because I don't think the head bone is connected to the brain bone. Pure fools and no way out of that mess. The sad fact is that even some of my family members are the fools in question.

If white people want to get involved with putting those black teens in check without fear of the racist label then I will lead them into battle. A black leader with a white band of brothers is fine by me considering that the black brothers aren't doing a thing. So stop complaining online and put your money where your mouth is and let's roll! Black people want peace just as much as you. I will stand by any man black or white who has got a pair.
