Car riddled with bullets in S. Philly, driver in critical condition

POSTED: Saturday, March 26, 2011, 2:00 AM

A man who was driving a silver Nissan Maxima in South Philadelphia Friday night was hospitalized in critical condition after another driver fired shots through his window, police said.

After being shot at, the driver of the Maxima crashed his car into a house on 16th Street near Annin Street around 10:50 p.m. and was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  Annin is about two blocks south of Washington Avenue.

The driver’s side window of the car was riddled with about 14 bullet holes, and police at the scene said they knew of no witnesses, nor did they have any suspect in custody.

This happened in the Point Breeze area. This is the same area that Philly.com recently did a story about how the black people in the area are fed up with the white yuppies coming in, buying property and making the neighborhood more valuable and safer etc. One person was quoted saying "I'd rather have an empty lot with a drug dealer on it than see a white person gardening in it"...really? Well then you get what you ask for. So dumb it's almost ashame. Dumb, dumb, DUUUUUMMMMMBBBB!

Gentrify the hell out of these neighborhoods. The person quoted above is free to live in North Philly or a few poor suburbs out past 69th street or Bristol. Move em out.

I don't know about anyone else on this blog, but I for one am tired of all the shootings and I am starting to think about the suburbs. I heard King of Prussia is making a comeback!
