Bensalem to hold gun buyback

Flier for Bensalem's gun buyback program

Bensalem citizens looking to unload their guns for a load of cash can go to the municipal building Wednesday night or Saturday and get paid for surrendering their arms.

The goal is to reduce gun violence, organizers say. Gun givers can get up to $200 for assault rifles, $100 for semi-automatic handguns and $50 for handguns, rifles and shot guns. The first 100 people will also receive two VIP passes to The Comedy Works in Georgine's restaurant in Bristol.

To participate in the buyback, go to the township building at 2400 Byberry Road from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday or 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Questions? Go to www.bensalempolice.org or call the cops at (215) 633-3700 x3777.

Nobody is going to sell an assault rifle for $200. That's how much the tax stamp is, if you can even get your country sheriff to sign off that you should have a machine gun. Assault rifles are worth many thousands of dollars because they are subject to such rigid prohibitions.

"Assault weapon" is a propaganda term invented by prohibitionists.

If that's what you mean, kindly say so.

If you don't know the difference, you have no business writing laws about guns.

Wrong, MaggieL! Someone who has a "hot" gun that could be used as evidence of a violent crime against him would jump at the chance of getting rid of it, knowing it will be destroyed with no way to trace it. The money is just a little bonus, to help to buy the next gun.
