Police are hoping surveillance footage and help from the public lead them to a man who is wanted in connection with an armed theft at a Rite Aid in Olney on Sunday.

A man walked into the store, on Rising Sun Avenue near Lima Street, around 7:20 p.m. and began stuffing goods into a black bag, police said.

When a cashier asked the suspect to pay for the merchandise, he brandished a knife that he pulled from his back pocket and left the store without paying, police said.

A 21-year-old woman was hospitalized after she was shot in the leg in South Philadelphia Sunday night, police said.

The woman was shot on 20th Street near Jackson at 7:37 p.m. and taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania by medics, police said. No arrests have been made, and police have no information on a motive.

It was another in a spate of shootings that have plagued the area of South Philadelphia in and around the Point Breeze and Grays Ferry neighborhoods during the past two weeks. It is unclear whether this shooting is connected to others nearby, including a shooting Thursday night in which a 21-year-old man was shot three times five blocks from this incident, at 22nd and Sigel streets.
