3 shot, 1 fatally, in overnight violence

This post has been updated.

One man is dead, and two others are fighting for their lives, after getting shot in two separate incidents overnight, police said.

F Street near Whitaker Avenue, Crescentville

In the first incident, two men were found shot inside a home just before midnight.

One of the victims, 28, had been shot in his face and stomach, and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel, police spokesman Sgt. Eric Gripp said.

The other victim, a 27-year-old man, was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition last night after being shot in his left elbow, side and back.

Chief Inspector Scott Small, who responded to the scene, said the shooting may have been drug related — police found a large amount of what appears to be heroin inside the home.

A few hours later, a 30-year-old man was shot four times outside a restaurant in Juniata Park.

Officers found the victim, shot twice in his abdomen, once in his back and once in his buttocks, just after 3 a.m. and transported him to Temple, where he also remains today in critical condition.

At the hospital, medical personnel discovered the man had $11,000 in cash in his pocket. It's not clear, Gripp said, if the money is related to the shooting.

A witness told police that the suspect is a bald male with a beard, who wore a gray hoodie during the attack and fled the scene in a gray Dodge Avenger.
