A dead woman was found in a duffel bag on a North Philadelphia street early Monday morning, and police are investigating.
The call for the body, which was found wrapped up outside on 3rd Street between Susquehanna Avenue and Dauphin Street, came in at 5:26 a.m., according to police.
The woman, whose identity is unknown, but is believed to be a Hispanic woman in her 20s, was found with a bag over her head, and her body put in a trash bag and a duffel bag, according to Lt. John Stanford, a police spokesman. She was officially pronounced dead by medics at 5:45 a.m.
It's unclear how she died or how long she'd been dead before her body was found.
Initial information stating that the remains were male were incorrect.
