2-year-old critical after shooting at party

This post has been updated.

A 2-year-old who was shot in the stomach during a triple shooting in the city's Logan section last night remains in critical condition today, according to police.

The little girl was outside on 12th Street near Courtland when gunfire erupted around 9:17 p.m. She was hit once in the stomach and transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center and then to St. Christopher's Children's Hospital, where she was immediately taken in to surgery, police said.

Also injured by the gunfire was a 22-year-old man who was shot once in the left leg and a 30-year-old man who was shot once in the left hand. Both men were listed in stable condition.

Police reported that the shooting occurred during a block party, but neighbors said today that the gathering was actually a house party in front of one or more houses on the block.

Police do not yet have a motive or a suspect in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call the department's tip line at 215-686-8477.

Staff writer Julie Shaw contributed to this report.

I'm sorry, but calling the perpetrators animals is an insult to all domestic and wild animals. My God, animals even take good care of their young.

I dont understand what philly pd is doing in regards to not being proactive in stopping violence.I mean has anyone ever driven through north philadelphia recently ????

Theres a marked police car literally every other block ?? But they stop n frisk every two seconds when they see a junkie so they get nothing done regarding violence. Then you have that skinny leader of the FOP saying they need more police and more of our tax money for them..BULLSPIT !!!

One reason why I refuse to sign a block party permission sheet. We had one a few years ago that I didnt sign....and dozens of people from outside the area showed up...even from NY. The next year the "block captain" ended up with maybe 6 signatures out of 30. Never again.

There is a mistake in your comment - in this type of environment, the mother's are not working, they are collecting welfare. The child is just a meal ticket.

It wasn't a block party, it was a black party.

Not for nothing, but I live in Jersey - in a bad area. One day one of the hoodies said to me, "Never call the police if you see anything, let us solve it our own way." My response, so you're going to shoot someone, you're uncivilized.

My dad used to say "people are the only animals" - he was so right.
