A man was dead and a woman was hospitalized Tuesday night after they were shot inside a house in Kingsessing, police said.

Just before 10 p.m., a 34-year-old woman and 22-year-old man were in a residence on Florence Avenue near 54th Street with several other adults when someone opened fire on them, cops said.

Both were rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where the woman was listed in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the right knee. The man, who cops said was shot five times, including twice in the chest and twice in the arm, was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m.

Investigators said an argument motivated the shooting, and that the house it happened inside was a known location for drug activity and prostitution. Investigators swarmed the quiet block around 11 p.m., and two spent shell casings were found inside the two-story house.

Five witnesses were taken to be interviewed by homicide detectives, police said.

Cops said they believe the victims knew the shooter, but no arrest had been made as of 1 a.m. Wednesday.
