2 dead in Overbrook after apparent murder-suicide

Relatives and friends of an Overbrook couple found dead in their home after an apparent murder-suicide struggled to come to terms with the violent end to their lives Wednesday afternoon as police shuffled in and out of the rowhome the pair shared.

“They had just gotten back together,” said a family friend who did not want to be named as weeping relatives embraced outside the house on Wyndale Avenue near 57th Street. “It’s unbelievable, because I thought everything was going great.”

Family friends said the couple, who police have not yet identified, had three children. According to police, their daughter found them dead inside a second-floor bedroom of the house. The woman, age 56, had been shot in the face and the man, 57, had been shot in the torso, police said.

Both were pronounced dead in the house at 1 p.m. Police said no note was found inside the house, but a firearm was recovered at the scene.
