Police announced the arrest of a 17-year-old they said shot and killed a 67-year-old South Philadelphia man Wednesday.

Investigators couldn't release the boy's name because of his age but said he shot Harvey Marinoff, 67, of Tasker Street near 27th, and then robbed him of his gun and car.

Investigators said the victim knew the teen, but their exact relationship wasn't known.

Police were called to Marinoff's house Thursday to check on his well-being after neighbors reported that the door to his house was open, cops said.

Officers entered the house and saw blood in the hallway and a fired shell casing in one of the rooms. The victim's body was found lying in a crawl space under a stairway, according to investigators.

Marinoff, who suffered a gunshot wound to the small of his back, blunt force trauma to the head, and was possibly strangled, was pronounced dead on the scene.
