Wrong-way I-95 driver to be "retested" for license

Margaret Lazor, the 86-year-old Wilmington woman who caused several crashes last week by driving the wrong way on I-95 will face only minor traffic violations. State police want her retested for her driver's license.

Margaret Lazor, the 86-year-old Wilmington woman who caused several crashes last week by driving the wrong way on I-95 (in the passing lane no less!), will face only minor traffic violations, state police announced today.

In her wood-paneled Buick Century station wagon, Lazor drove east on Rt. 322 West, then north on I-95 South in Delaware County, waving off a driver who was trying to get her attention. At least four vehicles crashed as they swerved out of her way to avoid a head-on.

Pennsylvania State Police, who say they don't believe Lazor was drunk, said in a release today that they have requested that Delaware authorities "ensure Lazor is retested regarding her ability to properly operate a motor vehicle and retain her driver's license."
