This couldn't have happened. Guns don't kill people, people do. Therefore this did not happen. neddyflanders- Out of respect for my family, please end all discussions in regards to suicide at Targetmaster Shooting Range on Mon. August 22, 2011 at 12:40 p.m. You all should be ashamed of yourselves to assume. This 22 year old man has a name. He was my cousin like a brother and best friend. He was the most amazing person I have ever met in my entire lifetime including a variety of famous people. He was college educated and in graduate school. He was an old soul. He was my best friend in the whole wide world. You have no idea how our family is feeling at this very moment. Thank you Scion49 for defending our family and this 22 year old special man. Yes, I agree with Scion49, you all should be ashamed of yourselves! This is someone's son, brother, cousin, friend...mine! PhillyBorn...Yes, to answer your question, this death of my cousin/brother is a tragedy and came from a wonderful family. All of you please show some respect for me and my family and stop posting your comments!!! Thank you!!! Targetmaster and all shooting ranges, in my opinion, should make sure everyone has a license. I will turn and already have begun to turn this tragedy into a positive...it's called awareness. Laws need to be placed to prevent anyone with a just a valid ID to go to a shooting range, get a firearm and take their own life. You should be asking yourself where should the donations should be going and you would learn a lot more about this amazing 22 year old man...named my cousin, best friend and always like a brother. He has a name. He has a fsmily. We are shocked and devastated. Please respect our family!!!!!!!
Lehigh1997 - Don't like it? DON'T READ IT! "You should be asking yourself where should the donations should be going..." I'll get right on that.

Well, a person killed himself. He chose to do it with a gun, but he could have hung himself with a rope, turned on the the car in a closed garage, stabbed himself, jumped off a building, etc.
It happened. A person killed a person - in this case himself. It's a shame, but it happens. Japan does not allow civilian gun ownership, but has a suicide rate 3 times that of the U.S. How is that? kingnutter
I don't know what a "neddyflanders" is but I know it's not right. Milt, John and Curley

One Big Happy Family:) phillyfanboy- So, in your informed opinion, Which of those caused the demise of this unfortunate young man? DonQ
Why is the Inquirer permitting comments on this article? A 22-year-old man took his own life. That's indescribably sad. Jen D- Probably because Philadelphia Inquirer has a responsibility to report the news. If he killed himself at home, they wouldn't report it. However, he killed himself at a place of business. That will make the news. At least the police is not releasing his name out of respect for the family.

Jen, its called free speech. It has no effect on the guy dying or not. JonKap
Is every death a tragedy? I do not know if this death is a tragedy or not. To say simply that because a 22-year-old man died is a tragedy seems a bit simplistic to me. Philly Born
I agree with Neddy. How could a responsible gun owner who goes to a shooting range kill himself with a gun? Guns are good. Had to be an accident. KingOfPhilly
King and Neddy, Target Masters rents guns for the range. He most likely rented a gun to kill himself. And Guns do not kill people Bullets do. Jack Cough
Comment removed.
Many of you should be ashamed of yourselves. Stop making insensitive, brainless comments. This was someone's son, someone's brother, someone's friend. Imagine how these people would feel if they read some of these disgusting comments. Things like "who cares?!" and jokes about guns are simply not warranted here. Take your filth elsewhere and try to put yourself in another's shoes. Don't give me your "free speech" nonsense either - show some respect or don't say anything at all. Scion419
