Sheriff's K-9 fundraiser a "huge success"

Thanks to your contributions, K-9 Deputy Elli will get the physical therapy she needs and will return to sniffing for bombs in no time.

Delaware Countians are a charitable bunch. Ya done good.

Thanks to your contributions, K-9 Deputy Elli, a 4-year-old German Shepherd with the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, will get the physical therapy she needs after receiving hip surgery. The office says the fundraising effort for Elli, a bomb-sniffing dog, was "overwhelming" and a "huge success."

If you read about Elli here or elsewhere and contributed, the sheriff and his staff would like to extend their "heartfelt thanks."

But stop sending money. They have enough. Anything received after today will be returned. (Now you can blow your money on an iPad 2, which "will totally change the way you think about completely unnecessary devices.")

Extra money already sent will be used for the care and training of other K-9 Deputies. Donors with questions about how their money is being used can contact John McCann, the sheriff's public relations associate, at 610-891-4303 or mccannjp@co.delaware.pa.us
