Men cited for tubing during Sandy

Not the tubers or creek in question, but this guy does look serious.

Well, this idea was destined to go down the tubes and land the men who thought of it in deep water.

Two men were cited by state police for tubing down flood-prone Chester Creek during Hurricane Sandy Monday.

According to state police, Ricky Sheller, 20, of Glen Mills, and Matthew Sharkey, 20, of Lansdowne, had the brilliant idea to take inner tube rides down Chester Creek around 1:30 p.m., just after the National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the creek.

Numerous troopers responded to the area of Forge and Stoney Bank roads in Middletown Township to grab the floaters and help them safely ashore, police said.

State police said the creek did flood, though they did not have flood levels immediately available.

Both Sheller and Sharkey were issued citations for disorderly conduct and released.

Let them be. It's about time the state stopped protecting people from themselves.

Why rescue them? Just let Darwinism take its course.

Yet another endorsement of lowering the drinking age to 18. People who can't walk, can't tube. Get with the program people.

The state police should have just watched, and then started clapping if the idiots got in trouble. Then, the funeral should be televised so everyone would know why these two morons died.

God, calm down you idiots. So they tried to have a little fun and lived on the wild side. Such a foreign concept to you conformist zombies grinding out such a dull and depressing living.

I'm sorry, did they break the law? Stop trying to protect people from themselves. It isn't your job.

Great theory, however it is human nature to reach out to someone in danger. If professional first responders turn their back, an innocent Good Samaritan will likely put self at risk. Either way, moronic behavior potentially puts other people in danger. It would be easier if after 'rescue' they could be taken straight to a public square for flogging. Citations, fines, etc. are too abstract and far removed from the transgression to deter anyone.

Nothing in the article indicates that they were calling for help or were stranded in the creek, just that they didn't like the fact that these two knuckleheads were tubing down the creek.

    Who's idea of fun?
When Mitt Romney was in his early twenties his idea of fun was avoiding military service to his country by wandering around the countryside in France knocking on doors to get people to join his church.
Look what a fun guy he's turned out to be - aw shucks.
When these twenty-year-old tubers grow up I'd like to have a beer with them - if they're still around.

I'm sorry, did Obama serve in the military? How about Bill Clinton? No?

Another example of Obama's nanny state.

Last I heard Governor Christie wasn't debunking "Obama's nanny state".
Au contraire - he was wholeheartedly endorsing it!
