Two men were cited by state police for tubing down flood-prone Chester Creek during Hurricane Sandy Monday.
According to state police, Ricky Sheller, 20, of Glen Mills, and Matthew Sharkey, 20, of Lansdowne, had the brilliant idea to take inner tube rides down Chester Creek around 1:30 p.m., just after the National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the creek.
Numerous troopers responded to the area of Forge and Stoney Bank roads in Middletown Township to grab the floaters and help them safely ashore, police said.
State police said the creek did flood, though they did not have flood levels immediately available.
Both Sheller and Sharkey were issued citations for disorderly conduct and released.

- Great theory, however it is human nature to reach out to someone in danger. If professional first responders turn their back, an innocent Good Samaritan will likely put self at risk. Either way, moronic behavior potentially puts other people in danger. It would be easier if after 'rescue' they could be taken straight to a public square for flogging. - Nothing in the article indicates that they were calling for help or were stranded in the creek, just that they didn't like the fact that these two knuckleheads were tubing down the creek.
