Man stabbed to death with scissors

Right now, police are on the scene of a homicide in Upper Darby where the victim appears to have been stabbed to death with a pair of scissors, said Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

Police responded to a homicide scene in Upper Darby today where the victim appears to have been stabbed to death with a pair of scissors, said Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

This afternoon a homeless man went up to a parking lot attendant who was in his shack across the street from the Upper Darby township building on Garrett Road near Chestnut Street, and told the worker that there was a man dead in apartment 144 at the Richfield Garden Apartments on Richfield Road near Chestnut Street, Chitwood said.

The worker called police and authorities discovered the dead body of 60-year-old Robert Diclemente in the apartment with scissors sticking out of his chest, according to police.

Chitwood said the apartment serves as a "homeless flop house," and that a variety of people are in and out of the apartment. Diclemente was the renter on the apartment lease, but Chitwood said many homeless people would go to the apartment to drink and pass out.

Police have not released a suspect or motive in the case.

This marks the second homicide in Upper Darby this year and the second within a 10-day period. On Feb. 24, police discovered the body of Michael Fanning, 59, who was found bludgeoned to death in his home. Chitwood said Fanning also lived in a home with a variety of other people who were always in and out of the residence.

Both cases remains unsolved. Anyone with information is urged to call Upper Darby police at 610-352-7050.
