Today's dumb DelCo criminal comes to you out of Middletown Township and was fueled by Budweiser, the King of Beers.

Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Victor Mercadante, 40, was speeding in his white Impala along Glen Riddle Road in Middletown when he went through a stop sign and on to 76-year-old Willard Vaughan's lawn, leaving about 90 feet of tread marks before he hit a tree and the front porch of Vaughan's house, state police said.

Mercadante then jumped out of his driver's side window and left his car, which was registered in his name, at the scene, police said.

He was found about an hour and a half later on another nearby lawn, "in the fetal position with his pants around his knees," according to a state police news release. There is no word as to why Mercadante allegedly decided to drop his trousers.

Inside the car he left behind, police found an open bottle of Budweiser.

Mercadante, of Brookhaven, was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, accidents involving damage, persistent disorderly conduct, loitering and prowling at night and related offenses.

He was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical with chest pains, police said.
