Cops: Man on LSD took a walk with two machetes

Radnor residents who saw a man walking down the street swinging two machetes today were not tripping, but the man who was carrying them was, according to police.

Around 11:40 a.m., cops responded to reports of a man in a black shirt and gray pants walking down Donna Lane near Devon Avenue "swinging two machetes," a news release said.

Witnesses were able to point police to a residence on Donna Lane that the subject had entered. The door was open and inside cops said they saw the suspect kneeling on the floor with the weapons in front of him.

Authorities said the suspect, a man in his 20s whose name was not released, allegedly looked at the machetes and began to move towards the officers, but police were able to secure the weapons before he could reach them. The man then got on his feet, "took a fighting posture" and ignored all commands from police, according to the release. Police said the suspect appeared to be under the influence of drugs and they had to use pepper spray to subdue him.

While being taken into custody, the man allegedly told police "'I took LSD,'" according to the news release. He was then taken to the hospital.

After I wrote about a naked jogger in Radnor recently, someone on Twitter told me that "Radnor has all the fun cop stories." I was quick to retort that "They have some good ones, but I think Upper Darby Police still reigns supreme."

After this though, it may be a close call. Never change, Delco. Never change.
