A 13-year-old girl allegedly assaulted a 76-year-old crossing guard in Drexel Hill yesterday afternoon and when police responded to the scene, she fought with them too, said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.
The crossing guard, who has helped students from Garrettford Elementary School for the last 13 years, had just left her post at Edmunds Avenue and McCoy Street shortly after 3 p.m., when she felt something in her back and heard someone say, "Get out of my way or I'll kill you."
When she turned around, the woman saw what she believed to be a young man, but was actually a 13-year-old girl dressed as a boy, Chitwood said. She again threatened the crossing guard, this time by saying, "I'm going to shoot you."
"Now, she's scared to death," Chitwood said of the victim.
A 22-year-old man who lives in the neighborhood saw what was going on and stepped in between the child and the elderly woman, according to police. That gave the victim an opportunity to dial 911.
When police arrived on scene, the young assailant "took a fighting stance with them" and struggled with officers who tried to arrest her, Chitwood said. She was taken in to custody and was not found to be in possession of a gun, Chitwood said. Police believe the object she put in the victim's back was a pen.
Once at the station, the girl was placed in a containment room, where she spit on officers who came near her, police said. She was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and related offenses.
She was sent to the Delaware County juvenile detention center in Lima, police said. The school crossing guard returned to work today, Chitwood said.

thank you to the 22yo for stepping in. if he wasn't there, I wondered what this animal would do to the elderly lady. palmyra21
Vile and disgusting. Bruddah
growing up I got in trouble just about everyday....been suspended from school at least a half a dz. times....even got arrested a few times....I never treated an old person badly...never abused an animal....never did senseless vandalisem....never kicked anyone in the head in a fight (remember when you stopped fighting once you won the fight??)peopole today have no morals....they think doing stuff to old people, animals or peolpe or kids that cant defend themselves kool....I would love to run into one of these scumbags onetime when they were acting up !!!! doowaditty
Just like those sweet young teenage girls a few months back that all ganged up on the poor mentally challanged woman......they got a slap on the wrist (the ones convicted so far)....put them in Muncy for 4-5 yrs. and see how they like it.....that would be justice !!!! doowaditty- These young assailants should be carefully studied. Perhaps this will help to address the wave of unprovoked violence in our youth. DonQ
doowaditty, this young"lady" will be one of the people with straw purchase guns that will kill someone one day soon. As you commented well on this, it is a breakdown of our families and society, as well as a culture that desensitizes people for respecting human life. The current administration should be focusing on this aspect and for mental health, not law-abiding citizens

The 76 year old put up a better fight than Sidney Crosby Friend to All
First, I will like to know in detail who is "raising" her and how!
Very small number of people are born bad!
And she is also still young enough that she may be influenced in a positive way with a combination of carrots and sticks. EIK
Lovely story. Is it me or are there more & more of these heartwarming encounters taking place? Our society is swirling down the toilet. Thanks libz. teardownthisfishwrap
