Cops: Dad punches Wawa customer for ogling daughter

An irate father delivered a knuckle sandwich to a Wawa customer at a touch-screen kiosk on Sunday because he believed the man was ogling his daughter instead of food, police said.

An irate father delivered a knuckle sandwich to a Wawa customer at a touch-screen kiosk on Sunday because he believed the man was ogling his daughter instead of food, police said.

Now, Upper Darby police are asking the public's help in identifying the furious father or his darling daughter.

The incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. at the Wawa on 69th Street near Patterson Avenue. The 47-year-old victim was ordering a sandwich when the diligent dad approached him, accused him of eyeing his daughter and then cold cocked the man.

The victim suffered a cut and a possible concussion during the incident and was taken to Delaware County Memorial Hospital for treatment, said Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

"If somebody's looking at your daughter why don't you confront him instead of punching him?" Chitwood said. "This guy's not an overprotective father ... That's just his excuse for thumping the guy."

The man and his daughter left the store and fled in a four-door car, believed to be a Ford.

Anyone with information on the identity of the man or his daughter is asked to call Upper Darby police at 610-734-7693.
