A man who was arrested for his fourth driving under the influence offense in Upper Darby last night had open bottles of Jagermeister and Yuengling on his passenger's seat, police said.

Around 6:30 p.m. at Lansdowne Avenue and Garrett Road, Peter Mantey rammed his pickup truck into a car driven by a 25-year-old man with three young children in his vehicle, police said.

Mantey got out of his vehicle after the crash and told the driver to follow him to a less congested area so they could exchange contact information, according to Upper Darby Police Superintendent Chitwood.

"The guy kept on following him, waiting for him to stop and he never stopped," Chitwood said.

The victim called police, who stopped Mantey at Marshall Road and Clearbrook Avenue. He allegedly failed a field sobriety test and cops said they found an open bottle of Yuengling beer and an open bottle of Jagermeister on the front seat of Mantey's car.

Police later discovered Mantey was driving without a license and without insurance and that this was his fourth DUI offense, Chitwood said.

"He's a poster child for recklessness and unconscionableness," Chitwood said. "His weapon of choice is a motor vehicle and the rest of us are at his mercy."

Mantey was charged with DUI, operating a vehicle without insurance, driving without a license and related offenses.
