A convicted murderer who came very close to taking another life this weekend is now on the run, according to police, and authorities are seeking the public's help in tracking him down.

Around 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Rashon Solice, 37, of Philadelphia, allegedly went to a home on Copley Road near Long Lane in Upper Darby looking for a woman named "Nichole." When the male resident of the home, who had only met Solice on one prior occasion, said he did not know Nichole's whereabouts, an argument ensued, according to Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

The argument escalated into a street fight, during which Solice allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed his opponent twice in the chest. Solice fled the scene and the 26-year-old victim was taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Chitwood said police later found Solice's car abandoned at 50th and Spruce Streets in West Philadelphia, but authorities have yet to locate Solice or the knife he allegedly used in the attack.

According to Chitwood and online court records, Solice pleaded guilty to murder and possessing instruments of a crime in Philadelphia in 1999 and was sentenced to serve eight-to-20 years in prison. Records indicate he was paroled in 2006 and remains on parole until 2018.  Details about the circumstances and nature of the slaying for which Solice served time were not immediately available.

Solice is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Upper Darby police at 610-724-7684.

"Obviously, he's got a violent history," Chitwood said. "That's why we're concerned about safety if anybody every comes in contact with him."
