Colwyn cop charged in teen Tasering incident

Parham

Cpl. Trevor Parham, one of the "fine members" of the Colwyn Police Department, has been charged with simple assault and official oppression for allegedly Tasing a teenager who was handcuffed in a jail cell last month, the Daily News' Stephanie Farr reports from the Media Courthouse, where Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan is holding a news conference.

New details are emerging this morning:

County authorities say Parham texted about the incident with another Colwyn cop, saying the 17-year-old "got Tased in the cell lol." He allegedly texted that he zapped Da’Qwan Jackson because the kid "kept kicking the gate and calling me names."

Stephanie has been all over this story out of Colwyn, a borough of only 0.3 square miles on the Southwest Philly border that  has firmly established itself as the most dysfunctional town in Delco – and possibly the entire Delaware Valley. Chalk it up to a volatile combination of partisan bickering, outright racism and plain ol' incompetence.

Check back for an update later.

I bet every time that teen now thinks about breaking the law he starts twitching and squirming.

As a public service, philly.com could save millions of keystrokes by providing two icons, one of which would automatically type the question 'Where's Jesse and Al?'and another which would type Mayor Street's 'The brothers and sisters are running the city' quotation.

Well its actually a legitimate point on this story. If the cop was white, would the response from the African American community be a lot different? That is an interesting question.

Police abuse and corruption is more rampant than ever. Until you sheep starting questioning the tactics of police in this country, you will keep getting tased handcuffed inside a jail cell, then have a "honorable" policemen text his buddy about it and say "lol". Join the Philadelphia Inquirer and speak out against scumbag police.

The real problem is the racially divided town government. The white mayor wanted the officers suspended and charged with a crime. The black city council wanted to protect the black officers, especially the police chief who has banged heads with the mayor for some time now.
    unbelieveable!

Suspect that police work won't be in his future. He'll have to take up something a little less dangerous.

Not sure if a part-time Colwyn cop gets a pension and, if so, I doubt he would lose it as a result of being charged with two misdemeanors.

An article about a black cop tasering a black kid, and you throw in racism as a source of Colwyn's problems.

You should have to live where you demagogue.
