76ers point guard Lou Williams saw the doctors today in Philadelphia and then immediately underwent jaw surgery, where he had his upper and lower jaw wired together. Williams will be out 8 weeks.

In the coming days, he will consult with a nutrionist about a liquid diet to help him maintain his weight.

Williams broke the jaw early in the first quarter of the Sixers loss to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. With the injury, he scored 26 points.

This was initially posted on Twitter, so feel free to follow there: Deep Sixer. Also, check out the video in the player below on the right called "Lou on broken jaw." Spoke with Lou before last night's game against the Celtics.

AI should've been here in training camp. AI does everything Lou Williams does. We've been there and done that wtih the "Lou Williams experiment"...he's Tyronn Lue...he's a little quicker than AI but he can't score AI. AI defends about the same and can give up the same amount of dimes..how about we get some players with some toughness to take control of this team.

Enough with the Alan Iverson must return nonsense. He is a 34-year-old guard coming off various injuries who no longer has explosiveness, on a good night these days will shoot at best 10 for 24, is a defensive liability, would stunt the potential growth of Holiday, will fight for the ball with Iguodala, can't and won't learn the Princeton offense, is not liked by Sixers ownership, and at most, will draw crowds for two games as a curiosity until they see he is a shell of his former self. There is not a single NBA team that has shown the slightest interest in signing him after he was booted by Memphis, including Larry Brpwn's Bobcats. Time for Iverson to pack it in and receive the accolades for his Hall of Fame career.

Just when you thought the sixers couldn't get any worse. . . although, if this gives Holiday a bit more playing time it might turn out be a good thing
