Sixers waive Reiner, set Opening Night roster

The 76ers announced today they have waived center Jared Reiner, whom they signed in the week leading up to Training Camp. Reiner played in one preseason game, scoring six points in five minutes.

Reiner's dismissal sets the roster at 14 for next Wednesday, Oct. 29, when the Sixers open the regular season at home against the Toronto Raptors.

Head coach Maurice Cheeks had said throughout preseason that Reiner was a "chemistry guy," Reiner played his college ball at the University of Iowa, along with Sixers power forward Reggie Evans.

Here's how the Sixers roster now stands:

Guards: Andre Miller, Lou Williams, Willie Green, Kareem Rush, Royal Ivey, Andre Iguodala (can we put him as a guard-forward ...)

Forwards: Thaddeus Young, Elton Brand, Reggie Evans, Donyell Marshall

Centers: Samuel Dalembert, Theo Ratliff, Marreese Speights, Jason Smith (torn ACL).

The Sixers have today off, but will return to the practice floor at PCOM on Friday.
